How to Clean In-Ear Monitors (IEMs)

The #1 cause of IEM failure is not a broken cable; it is earwax clogging the sound bore. If moisture gets inside the balanced armature drivers, they will corrode and die.

The Daily Routine

After every show, wipe the shells with a microfiber cloth. Use the "cleaning tool" (the little wire loop) to gently scoop wax out of the bore. Do this UPSIDE DOWN so gravity helps the debris fall OUT, not deeper in.

Silica Gel

Store your IEMs in a case with silica gel packets. These absorb moisture (sweat) that accumulates during the show. Sweat is salty and corrosive.

Don't Blow!

Never blow into the tubes to clear them. You are just blowing spit and moisture directly onto the electronics.
